#1 - New York, New York

What city is more exciting than NYC? It was the logical destination for the first of my 13 trips.

I have always wanted to live in NYC. I spent the first part of my trip pretending that I lived in Manhattan. I stayed at a great (and cheap!) bed and breakfast in Chelsea, the Chelsea Lodge. It took no time at all to become familiar with the streets and subway. I wandered around the neighborhood and found all sorts of great boutiques, restaurants, and of course the Chelsea Market.

Thanks to the president of my company, I had fantastic tickets to see the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the New York City Center. The performance was fantastic. I was so impressed with the choreography, costumes, lighting, and music.

My dear college friend came down from Boston to hang out with me for the second part of the trip. The weather was absolutely miserable, but like a wanna-be-true-New-Yorker, I dragged him all around the city. We found plenty of good spots to eat and drink, including Bare BurgerBrooklyn Bagel, and a nondescript restaurant in Little Italy.

Random sight: A car / motorcycle combo promoting a clown, complete with large and colorful plastic figures attached to the hood of the car. Sadly, he resembled more of a dog than a clown.

Visiting NYC solidified what I already knew: I am a city girl, and I will live there one day. Until then, I look forward to my next visit.
